ABOUT THE WINERY
more than 200 years …
Domaine Jean-Marc Bernhard is situated in Katzenthal, in the west side from Colmar, in the heart of the Alsacian wine country, our village is laying in a valley surrounded by vineyards along the Alsacian Wine Route.
The family estate is situated in the middle of the village, the buildings, dated from the 16th century, have been bought by the family Bernhard in 1802.
The cellars have always exclusively served to the winemaking. The dynamism and experience brought successively by the 9 generations are the elements which procure a high level of quality.
Since 2012, Domaine Jean-Marc Bernhard has been producing organic wines.
ABOUT THE WINE
I first tasted this wine back in early 2014 and was just impressed by the power of the wine. The reason why I love Riesling, generally because you can see so many different styles from different parts of the world and whist I love the more elegant German styles, this wine took me by surprise with its complexity, power and intensity. Like all the wines from this 9th generation producer, there is a purity in the fruit flavours you get from their wines.
Classic grape scent of apples, citrus, but also some acacia. Almost medium bodied and clean taste with good fruit, lively acidity and nice minerality. A highly reliable wines, year after year.
Let’s go with King fish fillets to pair this up with!
Enjoy :)
